Southern Virginia Higher Education Center One of the first and most successful higher education centers of its kind, The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center was founded to help citizens of Halifax County continue their education while they live, work, and raise families here. Located in the renovated Export Leaf Tobacco building in South Boston, the SVHED offers students a high quality education through our partnerships with eight Virginia colleges and universities. Here you can earn your Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees in any one of 20 disciplines and 12 Degree programs. We also offer courses in everything from Nursing Assistant to Truck Driving, and Cosmetology to Cisco Certifications. As a student you get all the educational advantages offered by more traditional colleges right here in our own region. Philpott Manufacturing Extension Partnership (VPMEP) is to foster economic growth by enhancing the competitiveness of Virginia's small and medium-sized manufacturers. C-BIG Danville Community College has a vital interest in the economic development of its service region. Through its Center for Business, Industry, and Government, the College provides a wide variety of educational opportunities for companies and organizations.
