Halifax County lies in the heart of racing country and within our county borders are two well-known racing facilities:  VIRginia International Raceway and South Boston Speedway.  Halifax County Public Schools is pleased to offer our students one of the first Academy programs in the nation to prepare for the demanding jobs related to Motorsports, including:

• Racing Engineer
• Race Car Driver
• Car Chief
• Master Mechanic
  
• Chief Steward
• Race Broadcaster
• Event Manager
• Sports Marketing Specialist

The goals of the Motorsports Academy include:

• Providing small learning communities.
• Providing opportunities to participate in racing activities such as go-kart racing and race team responsibilities.
• Promoting career awareness in Motorsports-related fields.
• Offering opportunities to interact with racing professionals in a natural racing environment.
• Promoting diversity in racing by recruiting minorities and females for participation in a variety of Motorsports activities.
