The Department of Motor Vehicles announced on Friday October 13th that it will reorganize its call center operations, the Customer Contact Center (CCC) which will create 21 jobs in Halifax County. Currently the call center is located in Richmond, VA and will be phased out by July 2007.
DMV will also expand its Altavista site and designating that location as the agency's primary CCC. This expansion will create as additional 38 new jobs for that area.
D.B. Smit, Commissioner for DMV stated, "This is an opportunity for DMV to improve customer service. Reorganization and expansion of our telephone call center operations goes hand-in-hand with reducing wait times for our telephone customers." Additionally, South Boston was selected because of its strong available labor pool.
The CCC will be located at Riversone Technology Park in the same building as the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC).
SouthBoston will serve as DMV's back up site.
